CASTLE OF DOMINIA II August 5, 4021

Lieutenant Denali Nakada

I WALKED WITH FREESIA, Garnet, and Senator Ozias to what the Senator claimed was the Castle of Dominia. It was no castle that Freesia, Garnet, and I were used to seeing, though.

The Castle of Dominia stood over a large lake of water that was almost too blue to be real. There were walkways from the north, west, east, and south of the castle leading to the center circle of concrete that the castle stood on. Instead of being made of stone or brick, this castle was made entirely of a substance that was unique to Dominia.

The Senator told us it was a mixture of marble and quartz, and I could see where he came from with that comparison. It seemed to shine for miles, and I supposed that was the purpose.

As for the castle, there was one shorter fixture in the very center with two tall towers on either side. The two tall towers ended mostly in a point, but there was a slightly sloped cut-out at the top as well that made it where there was only a small point on the outside edge of each tower. Extending from the center was another tower that reached where the slopes on either of the taller towers ended. That tower came to a proper point and there was a slightly curved cut out in the bottom of the tower that allowed a view of the moon that was starting to rise over the planet.

I couldn’t help but briefly look for the other moon. I didn’t know very much about Dominia, but it was relatively common knowledge that Dominia had two moons - “twin moons”, as they were often called for reasons not even I knew - that rose and fell at the same time. Castoria always appeared directly across from Polluxan.

As soon as I found Castoria, though, I focused back on the matter at hand.

I glanced down as Garnet looped her arms around mine. She squeezed tight again. This was her second time doing so in a matter of days.

“Are you okay?”

Garnet hesitated before answering, “I’m just nervous. This place is new, and on top of that, we’re in Ecoastrian territory. Anything could happen and I’m not sure I want to know what the outcome is going to be.”

I started to reply when the Senator, who I noticed staring at me several times, beat me to the punchline.

“You do not have to worry, Miss One. While Dominia is in Ecoastrian territory, we are exempt from all rule by Her Majesty, Queen Rhea, due to a little war that happened a few years ago.”

I furrowed my eyebrows, “There hasn’t been a war in twenty-two years and that was between the newly formed Ecoastria and Rook. What are you talking about?”

The Senator paused to look at me weirdly before realizing what was wrong. “Ah, I forgot. You must be a younger Domineer, then?” He asked.

“I’m twenty-four,” I replied.

I was slightly put off by the fact
